I have tried every Milk Frother available and all have failed due to fluid leakage. I use mine for flarored coffee mixes and the necks of the Frothers need to be longer for my 16o/z cup than for an ordinary 8 or 16o/z cup.
The Black;Decker has a longer neck and, therefore, doesn't get wet from the coffee mix, which is why they fail. It's also the cheapest of the lot at $13.75 ea. at Amazon, a very nice place to buy.
Unlike the others this one can be disassembled, so I put some Silicon Sealer along the case seams to help water proof it, but after watching it work, with my 16o/z cup, I don't think I actually needed to.
I just ordered a second one for our Travel Trailer. B;D has done a much better job with their Frother than all the other "Battery Operated" Frothers!

As of March 1st, 2011 this unit is still working as promised. Switches seem to be the problem with these units (Frothers) exposed to liquid and the switch on the B;D is rock solid. Other brands have not.
After months, I am still confident that, of all of the Frothers, this one is the best!
1) You need a fair amount of speed and the Black;Decker has it.
2). You also need length for 16oz drinks, and this one is the longest of the lot. (Length keeps the motor out of the drink.)
3). The switch needs to be reliable, all except this one fail in that dept.
4). The cost is also amongst the lowest.
I could go on and on, but this is the one to get. Runner up is the Bodum. At $17.00 it is a good alternate choice. The Bodum is almost too fast. If you don't watch you can spin the drink right out of the mug!
Although I am not a big fan of Black and Decker products, I found this Beverage Frother to be quite good and well made. The device is small enough that you can use it in just about any size drinking cup of your choice but the motor is strong enough to handle almost any drinking size glass. The handle got a good non-slip grip on it while it is not water resistance, as long as you don't soak it, it should perform well. It is perfect for mixing powder and liquid of almost any kind. This works well for mixing powder medication with liquid as well. Run on two AA batteries with an excellent life, I have been using this device for over a year and it has yet to break down.
On the down side, you can't adjust the speed, only the duration of the mixing and that depends on your own sense of timing to get it right. The on and off button is on the butt end of the handle. If you slightly press on it, it will run as long as there is that pressure. Harder press will turn it on and requires you to press again to turn it off. So if you hold it like a joy stick with your thumb on the button, the control is actually quite good. I used this quite often to mixed my Nestle Quik with milk and got the spin control down to a perfect science. Just make sure that you turn off the device prior to taking it out of the liquid. Otherwise, you will get spatter by the rotating spinner.
Excellent device and quite reliable, this come highly recommended. You can probably buy it cheaper at your local stores then at Amazon (in Anchorage's Fred Meyer stores, the regular price of this device is around $12.00 although right now, its selling for S9.00..I brought three more just to last me for the rest of the century).
